SNL UK: Series 1 & 2 Visual Effects

Overview

Working as a Visual Effects Artist on Saturday Night Live UK across Series 1 and 2, I've been part of the overnight post-production team responsible for getting sketches and filmed segments ready for broadcast. Working to incredibly tight deadlines, the role involves creating and integrating visual effects, compositing, motion graphics and other finishing elements as material moves through the overnight edit. From explosions and environmental effects to more subtle visual adjustments, the challenge is finding creative solutions that work within the show's demanding production schedule, while maintaining the quality expected of a major television production. It's a fast-paced, collaborative environment where flexibility, technical problem-solving and a good sense of humour are essential - and certainly one of the more unusual ways to spend a Friday night.
